The Erasmus+ program replaces original EU programs:
- Lifelong learning program (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius and Grundtvig)
- Youth in action
- International cooperation programs: Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink and bilateral programs
- Sport is added as new program activity.
Erasmus+ offers grants for a wide spectrum of initiatives in the area of education, specialized education, youth and sports. The program gives the opportunity to students, pupils of specialized training, academic staff, workers with youth and volunteers to spend time abroad and improve their knowledge, skills and employability. It supports organizations that can become involved into project cooperation and within partnerships share innovations in education, specialized training and youth. The new Sports initiative supports activities within mass sport. It will be solving problems like doping, violence and racism through cross-border cooperation.
The initiatives of the Erasmus+ program are divided into decentralized and centralized. The decentralized initiatives are managed by National Agencies in each program participating country. The centralized initiatives are managed by Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) based in Brussels. For applicants for cooperation with countries beyond the EU and other program countries (so-called partnership countries) there exist in each National Agency a single point (International Contact Points) and National Erasmus+ Offices are created in partnership countries.
Erasmus+ is open to a wide spectrum of organizations in all fields of education, specialized training, youth and sports. Any kind of Slovak public, private or non-profit organizations actively involved in these fields can ask for funds from program meeting conditions announced in the corresponding Call for applications. “The Erasmus+ program (2014-2020) is a community program that covers all education sectors from education through specialized education and training, university studies and adult education to the youth sector and some aspects of mass sport.
